HTC EVO 3D available for preorder as part of super secret Best Buy presale

According to this memo that’s going around Best Buy, you’re not actually supposed to listen to anything we’re saying here. Because what do we know? We’re just a blog. (Or maybe they’re referring to that other blog.) But the fact remains that the
HTC EVO 3D — that’s the newfangled 3D-capable phone that we saw at CTIA — is available for preorder at Best Buy Mobile.

Here’s the deal: You’ve gotta ask for it. Best Buy isn’t actively promoting the presale, and there’s a good chance that there’s a secret handshake involved. (We tried this one.) But otherwise, it should be standard Best Buy preorder procedure: You fork over a little cash in exchange for a gift card and the promise of a phone once it’s released. You can then apply the gift card toward the total cost. As for when it’s coming? Still no word, other than this summer.

We’ve put word into our official Best Buy contacts for some official confirmation (you know, not from a blog), but we’ve also walked into a store and confirmed this for ourselves. So if you wanna preorder an HTC EVO 3D, go for it.

Time Inc. in iPad Deal With Apple

Time Inc., the country’s largest magazine publisher, has reached a deal with Apple Inc. to make all its iPad editions free for print subscribers, marking a break in the impasse between publishers and Apple and lending support to Time’s contention that it’s business-as-usual after the ouster of its chief executive.
Time Inc.

Starting Monday, subscribers to Sports Illustrated, Time and Fortune magazines will be able to access the iPad editions via the apps, which will be able to authenticate them as subscribers. Time Inc.’s People magazine already had such an arrangement, but readers of most publications have had to pay separately for the iPad version regardless of their subscriber status.

HTC DROID Incredible 2 Review Pt. 1&2

Aaron from phonedog takes an in-depth look at Verizon’s HTC DROID Incredible 2, the successor to last year’s popular HTC DROID Incredible. Sporting a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera, and Android 2.2, it ups the ante by offering a 4-inch Super LCD, global roaming capabilities, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a new version of HTC’s Sense UI. All in all, it’s an excellent improvement to the original, and can be had at Verizon for $199.99 with a two-year agreement.

It’s still a high-end phone, but is it worth buying, considering the 4G LTE smartphones that are on the market? We’ll think it through.
