HTC EVO 3D available for preorder as part of super secret Best Buy presale

According to this memo that’s going around Best Buy, you’re not actually supposed to listen to anything we’re saying here. Because what do we know? We’re just a blog. (Or maybe they’re referring to that other blog.) But the fact remains that the
HTC EVO 3D — that’s the newfangled 3D-capable phone that we saw at CTIA — is available for preorder at Best Buy Mobile.

Here’s the deal: You’ve gotta ask for it. Best Buy isn’t actively promoting the presale, and there’s a good chance that there’s a secret handshake involved. (We tried this one.) But otherwise, it should be standard Best Buy preorder procedure: You fork over a little cash in exchange for a gift card and the promise of a phone once it’s released. You can then apply the gift card toward the total cost. As for when it’s coming? Still no word, other than this summer.

We’ve put word into our official Best Buy contacts for some official confirmation (you know, not from a blog), but we’ve also walked into a store and confirmed this for ourselves. So if you wanna preorder an HTC EVO 3D, go for it.

HTC DROID Incredible 2 Review Pt. 1&2

Aaron from phonedog takes an in-depth look at Verizon’s HTC DROID Incredible 2, the successor to last year’s popular HTC DROID Incredible. Sporting a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, 8-megapixel camera, and Android 2.2, it ups the ante by offering a 4-inch Super LCD, global roaming capabilities, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera, and a new version of HTC’s Sense UI. All in all, it’s an excellent improvement to the original, and can be had at Verizon for $199.99 with a two-year agreement.

It’s still a high-end phone, but is it worth buying, considering the 4G LTE smartphones that are on the market? We’ll think it through.

Verizon doc suggests BlackBerry PlayBook, HTC Trophy and Xperia Play ‘coming soon’, prices LTE tablet data and intros 4G netbooks

What happened to the HTC Trophy, long overdue on Verizon 3G? How about the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, mysteriously missing a Verizon release date long before Japan’s catastrophe? Will Verizon commit to carrying the BlackBerry PlayBook this year? Just how much will LTE data cost for the Xoom and its tablet friends?

Unboxing Videos of the Verizon HTC Incredible 2, Casio G’zOne Commando and the Samsung Droid Charge

On Tuesday I told you about three phones that Verizon Wireless was launching today: The HTC Incredible 2, The Casio G’zOne Commando and The Samsung Droid Charge. Here are the unboxing videos from Aaron at Just as an FYI, these might be the last unboxing videos I post. I have nothing against Aaron’s videos. In fact, I think they are excellent and until I can make a deal to get the phones myself I will still repost his. I just think that the announcement story, unboxing video and review video just is getting redundant. So why am I reposting these you ask? Well, these are 3 very unique and highly anticipated releases so I thought it would be nice to get a first look at each. Please enjoy. Thank you Aaron.-Bill

Update: As of the posting of this article, Verizon has announced that the Droid Charge release is being delayed. It probably had something to do with the LTE system outage and the fact that the phone could not be activated. I am hoping that since the Verizon LTE network is back up and running they will announce the Charge for release within the next few days. I will keep you posted.

HTC ThunderBolt vs. Samsung Galaxy S 4G Dogfight Pt. 1&2

The ThunderBolt is taking on the Galaxy! Aaron referees a dogfight battle between the HTC ThunderBolt and the Samsung Galaxy S 4G. The ThunderBolt is Verizon’s first 4G LTE device and it offers a 1 GHz Snapdragon CPU, 4.3-inch display, 8-megapixel camera, front-facing lens, and Android 2.2 with HTC Sense 2.0. The Galaxy S 4G has a 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5-megapixel camera, front-facing camera, and HSPA+ connectivity (up to 21 Mbps).

They’re not dramatically different in the specs department, but there are a few hardware, software, and carrier differences. Which one should come out on top? It’s dogfight time!

T-Mobile G2x launching next week

Yesterday there was some news hinting that the upcoming T-Mobile G2x may debut a bit sooner than we were expecting – the G2x is basically the US variant of the LG Optimus 2X with support for all US 3G frequencies. Turns out, both rumors were right. Starting next Friday, you can grab one of the most powerful handsets ever to come from the carrier by ordering online, or, if you wait a few more days, you can walk into a T-Mobile store on the 20th to pick up your own T-Mobile G2x in the flesh.
